CBYC New Year Regatta Race Report Murray Gallagher All races 5 – 10 knots sea breeze. 1 Jan 2008 Race 1 Start 2pm Course Windward Leeward Up channel from CBYC to outside reef Manukau Harbour. Wind N at start shifted to NW first leg. Wind shifted to W to SW second leg. Wind W to SW third & 4th leg. Note 3.7 reaching on wire after wind shift. Race 2 & 3 Outside reef Manukau Harbour Wind W Course 2 X Windward Leeward 2 Jan 2008 Race 4, 5, 6 Start 2:30 pm Wind W Outside reef Manukau Harbour. Race 4 Course 2 X Windward Leeward Race 5, 6 TS Course 2 X Windward Leeward Other Class Course Triangle Windward Leeward 3 Jan 2008 Race 7, 8 Start 1:00 pm Wind W Up channel from CBYC, wing mark outside reef Manukau Harbour. CLARKS BEACH NEW YEAR 2009 Jan (1), 2, 3 Clarks Beach has all tide sailing, is on the Manukau Harbour, and is just a 25 minute drive from the Papakura Motorway exit. Google map it !
New Year’s Day (Nice late start to give you time to get there. NOTE NEW FORMAT)
Thurs 1 Jan. 3pm Briefing. 4pm race starts – no reg. or fee. This is a fun race only. 1st prize fun race seniors Rum, Juniors - mystery prize. Shared evening BBQ please bring meat & something to share. For those with REAL hangovers, Regatta does not start till 2nd Jan !!
Fri 2 Jan Registration from 9am. 11am Briefing. Three (or four) races Evening BBQ to purchase.
Sat 3 Jan Briefing time to be advised - two (or three) races; Prize giving.
Meals 1st Jan BYO, share for BBQ dinner. Lunches can be bought on 2nd & 3rd, evening BBQ meals for sale on Fri 2 Jan. Refreshments available to purchase.
Accommodation: You may camp on the Yacht Club grounds, or Clarks Beach Holiday Park (Ph 09-232-1685) is adjacent to the Yacht Club.
Entries: Entry Fee per yacht – Entry fees accepted on the day. Senior $45; School kids $20. OR Family $65 (immediate family only with school age children)
Lance O’Connell and John Elliott have attended this regatta for years – we both think it usually provides some of the best sailing and best rides of the season. Friendly, social club.

Karaka School Visit 9,10,11 February Web site http://www.karaka.school.nz/ Thanks to David from Yachting New Zealand for taking over 90 children on their first sailing experience. Clarks Beach Yacht Club provided a large patrol craft to carry staff, parent help and excess children. A CBYC volunteer manned this each day.

Clarks Beach Yacht Club CAR RALLY Sunday 18 October 2009 Thanks Phil from Waiau Pa Automotive Solutions. for an enjoyable Day My driver Pam in her Mercedes sports car did no extra KM’s and just missed out on a major prize. The navigator missed clues in Patumahoe. Thanks to the McDonalds of McDonald Falls for their assistance. The wind was 40 Knots at the lighthouse. |

Race 1 report W>SW>NW 5-20 Knots Low tide 5:30pm .0.5M Start Taiheke River 1 Opposite Glenbrook Ramp 2 Buoy Yacht Club 3 Taiheke River 1 Opposite Glenbrook Ramp F Buoy Yacht Club Time 45min Many unknown rocks appeared as we never normally sail at 5:30pm.on a super high tide. Race 2-5 Report Wind W at 10—15 Knots as per the forecast. 3 races in front of Clarks Beach 1 race to edge channel S 1 2 3 1 F. Race 6&7Report Light NE at CBYC determined start time. Wind settled to a NW of 5—20 Knots as per marine forecast. S 1 2 3 1 F.2 races in front of Clarks Beach . Prize Giving. |
